This article provides information about a touch driver with a PCAP screen in Linux
PCAP screens are best used with Human Interface Device (HID) drivers. HID drivers capable of controlling a PCAP touchscreen are natively available in most modern operating systems. HID support was integrated into Linux kernel version 3.8. If your Linux kernel version is 3.8 or greater, then there is no need for an Elo driver to enable touch features on a PCAP screen.
To verify your kernel version, enter the command below:
$ uname -a
Highlighted, you will see the kernel version for this example. Since the kernel version is greater than 3.8, the Elo touch driver for Linux should not be installed if using a PCAP touchscreen.
If the kernel version is below 3.8 or you are using a non-PCAP touchscreen, then you will need to install the latest Linux touch driver available on our Downloads page .
