This article discusses how scheduled content can be published to devices at the same time regardless of time zone differences
Organizing a new scheduled content deployment can be complex due to differing time zones between devices. With this new Scheduled Content enhancement, EloView now allows users to deploy scheduled content simultaneously using UTC time zone. This will ensure all devices receive scheduled content deployments at the same instant rather than each device’s local time zone.
1. Login to the EloView website -https://manage.eloview.com
2. Click the Schedule tab in the top right portion of the portal.
3. Click Create Content Schedule
4. Fill out the information in the available boxes.
- Name of the schedule
- Application to be deployed
- Icon for Schedule (optional)
- Select Always or During a Period of Time
- UTC time zone
NOTE: "Use UTC Time Zone" is only available when "During a Period of Time" is selected.
5. Select "Use UTC Time Zone"
NOTE: If a user selects "Use UTC Time Zone" then the content will be deployed at the same times regardless of the devices' local time zone.
6. Once finished entering the Scheduled Content details and parameters, click Only Save or Save and Publish
NOTE: Use “Only Save” if you do not want to publish to devices yet. You can publish a saved schedule anytime by clicking on the schedule again from within the Schedule tab and selecting “Publish”
7. After clicking Save and Publish, a window will appear to select which devices will receive the Scheduled Content. If you decide to use a pre-existing filter from your filter profile, then click the Filter drop down button next to the filter text box.
Here you can filter by:
- Name of Devices
- Serial Number of Devices
- Group Name
- Location of Devices
- OS version
- Content currently installed on devices
- Local Time Zone of devices
- Analytics
- Content Status on devices
- Offline/Online Status of devices
- Orientation of devices
- Site Name
- File Status
- Device Mode
- Now Playing content on devices
- Content Source
8. Click “Publish” and your devices will receive the scheduled content deployment
9. There are multiple methods to verify that the scheduled content has been deployed to a device:
- Single Device – If the scheduled content was deployed to a single device, then navigate to the Device tab and click on the device that was supposed to receive the scheduled content. From there click Contents on Device, and if the schedule was published it will appear under “Publish Content on Device"
- Group of Devices – If the scheduled content was deployed to a group of devices, then navigate to the Device tab and click on the cog next to the group name that was supposed to receive the scheduled content. Click Contents on Group, and if the schedule was published it will appear under “Published Content on Group”
- Filtered List of Devices - If the scheduled content was deployed to a filtered list of devices, then navigate to the Device tab and click on one of the devices that were supposed to receive the scheduled content. Click Content on Device, and if the schedule was published it will appear under “Publish Content on Device”
