This article details how to update existing Android devices to Android 8.1 AOSP in EloView 3
This article applies to I-Series 2.0, PayPoint for Android Rev. B, PayPoint Plus for Android, Elo Backpack
IMPORTANT NOTE
Android 7.1.2 AOSP - EloView Version 3.xx.xxx
Android 8.1.0 AOSP - EloView Version 4.xx.xxx+a
Android 8.1.0 GMS - EloView Version 4.xx.xx (only available on 3.0 device models - see elotouch.com for details)
AOSP = Android Open Source Project
GMS = Google Mobile Services
3.xx.xxx versions of EloView software are based upon Android 7.1.2 AOSP. Updating to 4.xx.xxx+a will migrate your devices to Android 8.1.0 AOSP. Note that there is no way to revert back to Android 7.1.2. Before applying this optional update, be certain you intend to apply Android 8.1.0 AOSP.
NOTE: To see all available software updates for your device, click on the gear icon. (Screenshot below only an example, software updates shown are not available on all devices).
A few things to be aware of:
1. Devices need to have a minimum Android 7.1.2 EloView Version of 3.46.50 or higher to update to Android 8.1.0 AOSP. A device running an older version will need to first update to 3.46.50 (or above) and then update to Android 8.1.0 AOSP.
Any EloView version number starting with 4.xx.xx is Android 8.1.0. If there is a โ+aโ at the end of the version number (example: 4.52.15+a), this means it is Android 8.1.0 AOSP (Google Play not supported). For a 3.0 device, you wonโt see a โ+aโ (example: 4.46.70) which is Android 8.1.0 GMS (Google Play supported).
2. After upgrading to Android 8.1.0 AOSP, there is no going back to Android 7.1.2 AOSP.
