This article explains what to do when a users gets a PCIe Bus Error when attempting to install Ubuntu 14.04 or later on an X-series X3 Revision B unit
Please see the below procedure to install Linux on an X-series X3 Revision B unit containing a Skylake processor.
When attempting to install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (or superior) on an Elo X3 Rev. B AIO Touchcomputer, there will be an error displayed:
“pciport 0000:00:1c.5: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Physical Layer”
Installation will never finish and will start printing multiple errors to the console.
Steps to correct
1. Enter the BIOS by touching the SETUP icon during system startup, or by pressing the DEL key if a physical keyboard is attached.
2. Once in the BIOS, go to Chipset PCH-IO Express Configuration Mini PCI Express1/2 Advanced Error Reporting Change to Disabled
3. Reboot the machine and install again. Installation will finish.
*NOTE: This should work for any Elo X-series Rev. B AIO Touchcomputer running SkyLake graphics and attempting to install Ubuntu
