Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Can I adapt a newer iPad model to fit into an existing Elo PayPoint for iPad system?
A: No. Due to significant changes in Apple iPad chassis dimensions, bezel widths, camera alignments, and physical connector interfaces, modern iPad models cannot be fitted into legacy PayPoint systems. There are no adapter brackets, physical kits, or converter plates available to retrofit newer iPads into these enclosures.
Q: Can I convert a newer iPad's USB-C connector to communicate with the PayPoint dock?
A: No. The integrated docking sled on discontinued PayPoint for iPad hardware utilizes an embedded Apple Lightning interface. There are no supported cables, firmware provisions, or electronic adapters to convert this proprietary docking interface to USB-C or other bus protocols.
Q: Where can I purchase replacement parts such as iPad docking trays or printer covers?
A: Replacement trays, brackets, cables, and structural spare parts are completely discontinued and no longer stocked or sold by Elo.
Q: Does Elo continue to develop iOS SDKs and software updates for PayPoint systems?
A: No. Software development, iOS peripheral framework updates, diagnostic apps, and developer SDK releases for PayPoint for iPad have been permanently retired.
Recommended Modern Upgrade Path:
For modern enterprise POS deployments, Elo recommends migrating to integrated all-in-one platforms such as the EloPOS™ System, EloPOS Z-Series, or Elo PayPoint Plus for Windows/Android. Visit the Elo Point of Sale Solutions Portal for current models.
