This article provides step-by-step instructions for safely accessing the SSD, RAM, and CMOS battery on 15-inch Elo E-Series 3 systems with Intel processors.
Upgrading the SSD or RAM can improve storage capacity, speed, and multitasking performance. Replacing the CMOS battery may be necessary for system maintenance or to resolve hardware issues. This procedure is sometimes required for troubleshooting or routine servicing. However, it should only be performed by qualified personnel—improper handling may void the warranty or damage the device.
Note: Following this procedure improperly may void the IP rating or damage the unit. Handle with care.

Required Tools and Equipment
- Phillips-head screwdriver (#1 or #2)
- Plastic prying tool
- Anti-static wrist strap (recommended)
- Protective surface or anti-static mat
Safety Precautions
- Power off the device and disconnect it from all power sources before beginning.
- Wear an anti-static wrist strap to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.
- Handle internal components with care to avoid damage.
Procedure
1. Prepare the Device
- Place the E-Series 3 face down on a clean, soft, and protective surface to prevent scratches or damage.
- If the device has a stand, remove it:
- Remove the cable cover.
- Remove the two philips screws from stand mount.
- Lift the stand from the unit.
2. Remove Center Screw and Edge Connect Covers
- Remove the center screw circled in below photo.
- Detach the two (2) edge connect peripheral port covers by gently pulling them outward.
3. Remove Rear Cover from Front Housing
- Using a plastic prying tool, begin at the bottom edge of the unit and carefully work your way around, gently prying upward to detach the rear plastic cover from the front housing.
4. Accessing SSD, RAM, and CMOS Battery
- Carefully prop up the rear cover, taking care not to strain or disconnect any internal wiring.
- The SSD, RAM, and CMOS battery are visible as shown in the photo below.
5. Reassemble the Unit
- Reattach all components by reversing the steps above, ensuring all connections are secure and the rear cover snaps firmly back into place.
