This article describes how to update the Android System WebView version on an Elo Device running on EloView 4 (EV4)

Follow the steps below to update the Android System WebView on your Elo device. This process ensures optimal performance and compatibility with web-based content.

Steps

1. Clear the device content in EloView
   • From the EloView portal, clear the device’s content so that the screen displays “No content is configured for this device.”

2. Enable GMS Mode
   • Switch the device’s GMS mode to GMS Enabled.

3. Access the Google Play Store
   • On the device, go to:
     Settings → Apps → Google Play Store

4. Wait for Google app updates to complete
   • Wait briefly until the “Updating Google apps” message disappears.
5. Open the update menu
   • Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
   • Select Updates.

6. Update Android System WebView
   • Locate Android System WebView in the list and update it to the latest version.

7. Verify the update
   • Confirm that the Android System WebView version reflects the latest release (currently v142.0.7444.171)

8. Redeploy content through EloView
   • Once the update is complete, redeploy your device’s content from the EloView portal.
