How to Perform a BIOS Update (EFI Shell, Windows, and USB Methods)
This article provides step-by-step instructions for updating the system BIOS and ME firmware using EFI Shell, Windows, or a bootable USB flash drive.

Do not interrupt power during the BIOS update process. Doing so may permanently damage the system.

Pre-Update Checklist
- Confirm the correct BIOS package for the exact model.
- Connect system to reliable AC power.
- Disconnect unnecessary peripherals.
- Record current BIOS version.
- Ensure no pending OS updates (Windows method).

Method 1: BIOS Update via EFI Shell
- Obtain the BIOS package.
- Press Del during POST to enter BIOS.
- Disable Secure Boot:
Security → Secure Boot → Disabled - Save and exit (F4).
- Boot to EFI Shell.
- Run:
fs0:cd EFIFLASH.nsh - Press Y when prompted.
- System will reboot and complete the update.

Method 2: BIOS Update via Windows
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Navigate to:
cd BIOS\WIN - Run:
FLASH.bat - Press Y when prompted.
- System will reboot and complete the update.

Method 3: BIOS Update via USB Flash Drive (Not recommended)
💾 Boot directly from USB to run the BIOS update without Windows.
Step 1: Prepare USB
- Use a USB drive 32GB or smaller for best compatibility.
- Format to FAT32.
- Extract BIOS package to root.
- Confirm folders:
EFI,ROM,WIN
Step 2: Enable Auto-Launch (Recommended)
Create startup.nsh in USB root:
fs0:
cd EFI
FLASH.nsh
Step 3: Boot from USB
- Insert USB.
- Press Del → Disable Secure Boot.
- Boot from USB device.
Step 4: Run Update
- If auto-run is configured, update starts automatically.
- If not:
fs0:cd EFIFLASH.nsh - Press Y when prompted.
❗ Do not remove USB or power off during update.
Post-Update Verification
- Confirm BIOS version updated.
- Verify OS boots normally.
- Re-enable Secure Boot if needed.
- Validate system functionality.
ℹ️ Multiple reboots during update are normal.
❗ Interrupting the update may permanently damage the system.
