This article provides step-by-step instructions for updating the Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touch controller firmware on Elo 1099L Outdoor Open-Frame Touchmonitors. This procedure can be used to update the touch controller firmware or recover a controller operating in bootloader mode.
Ensure that power to the monitor and the USB connection remain stable throughout the firmware update. Do not disconnect the USB cable, remove power, or power off the monitor while the firmware is being written. Interrupting the update process may corrupt the touch controller firmware.
Step-by-Step Update Procedure
- Download the Firmware Update Package: Download the following firmware utility package: Test_Tool_PCFG0377_v00_T3_CM_250704.zip .

Extract the Files:
Extract the contents of the downloaded ZIP archive to a dedicated
folder
on the Windows host PC, such as
C:\Elo_Firmware\. -
Launch the Firmware Update Utility:
Connect the 1099L touch USB cable to the Windows host PC. Open the
extracted folder, right-click
eGalaxUpdate2.exe, and select Run as administrator. -
Accept the License Terms:
Review the license prompt and click Accept to continue.
When the utility launches, it automatically scans the USB connection for the touch controller. When detected, the controller information is displayed in the Current Controller panel on the left side of the utility.

Load the Firmware Image:
Click Load Image, browse to the extracted firmware
files, and select:
PCFG0377_v00_T3.H32.After the file is selected, the utility validates the firmware image and displays its information on the right side of the screen.
- Start the Firmware Update: Click Go (or Load Image OK, if displayed) to begin writing the firmware to the touch controller. Allow the update to complete and verify that the progress reaches 100% before proceeding.

Power-Cycle the Monitor and Verify Operation:
- Close the eGalaxUpdate2 utility.
- Disconnect the 12V DC power cable from the 1099L monitor.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cable and allow the monitor and touch controller to restart. Verify that standard HID touch functionality is operating normally.
If the 1099L restarts normally and touch functionality is restored, the PCAP touch controller firmware update is complete.
