This article explains how to fix a second monitor connected to the EloPOS with USB-C not displaying anything
Please see the information below regarding a second monitor connected to an EloPOS unit through USB-C not displaying.
Tools Needed:
2nd Monitor No Display FW_Driver Patches.zip
Procedure
1.Using the related attached .xls sheet, check to see if the unit is PVT1 or PVT2/1stMP build.
2. If the S/N belongs to PVT2/1st MP build or if the model (E2) has an Intel Celeron processor, you can jump to step #14. Otherwise, if you have a model with an Intel i3 or i5 processor from the PVT1 build, go through all following steps.
3. Check the BIOS and ME Firmware Version by going into the BIOS main menu. To do this, click on the setup button on the top right-hand corner of the Elo flash screen while booting.
4. The BIOS Version should be B193.22A for models with i5 Intel processors. The BIOS Version should be B193.22B for models i3 Intel processors. The ME FW Version for both models should be 12.0.30.1406.
5. Now, from the BIOS main page, go to the Chipset tab. Click on ME Configuration option. Enable the ME FW Update.
6. Switch to the Boot tab. Enable the Update System BIOS.
7. Switch to the Save and Exit tab and click on Save Changes and Exit. Save the new settings.
8. The computer will reboot. Let it finish rebooting and go to Windows Desktop.
9. Go to Command Prompt and Run as administrator.
10. Unzip the BIOS file to a bootable flash-drive. Use the E5_BIOS_B194.22A file for models with i5 processors and E3_BIOS_B194.22B for models with i3 processors.
11. For BIOS flash, we will use the E5 files to demonstrate. All steps are identical for the i3 models. The only difference is that instead of E5 files, you will use E3 files.
12. Execute the E5 updateE5_withME.bat file in the BIOS folder in Windows Command Prompt. Here’s a screenshot from a successful update. The system will restart automatically.
13. You will need to update the Intel ME driver package. To do this, use the ME driver package from Elo Tech Support. The package version should be 12.0.34.1425. Execute the SetupME file from the folder. Follow the pop-up windows to complete the driver update.
14. Create a UEFI bootable flash-drive. Depending on the model you have, unzip and copy the E2_EC_E195.29i_0.18.zip file or the E3E5_EC_E195.29J_0.18.zip file to your flash-drive.
15. Reboot your system. During the system boot up, click on the BBS button on the top right-hand corner of the Elo flash screen.
16. Select your UEFI bootable flash-drive in BBS.
17. Now, identify your UEFI bootable flash-drive. It should be listed as a fsx (x here symbolizes a number) device and it should be shown as a “Removable HardDisk”. In our case, it’s listed as fs1 and we will use fs1 to demonstrate the process.
18. Type “fs1:” and you will enter the flash drive’s root directory. Use command “dir” to locate your EC code folder.
19. Once you locate your EC code folder, use command “cd” to enter that specific folder and then execute the E19529J64.nsh file. You should see a flash screen as shown below and the system will reboot after the process is completed.
20. Go to the BIOS main page to verify that your firmware has been updated to the new EC version. To go to the BIOS main page, click on the setup button on the top right-hand corner of the Elo flash screen while booting. The EC version should now be 2019.05.29 v0.18.
