Keyboard Emulation MSR Keyboard Mapping Overview
There are three methods for programming a Magtek keyboard emulation magnetic stripe reader (MSR) to a foreign keyboard map:
1. Use EloMSR.exe and select the appropriate language script, as explained on this page.
2. Use prepared scripts, available for English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Download this .zip file (765K) for complete documentation.
3. Manually program each ASCII character to correspond with that country's keyboard. Download this .zip file (765K) for complete documentation of this more complex method.
Using EloMSR.exe
Installation Instructions
Download std_msr_config.zip (4.3 MB .zip file) and extract EloMSR.exe
Install EloMSR.exe
Operating Instructions
1. Plug the Magtek USB MSR into a USB port on the host.
2. Run the demo program (USBMSR.exe).
3. To send commands to the device, click on the "Send Commands" tab.
4. Click on "Load File" tab.
The default location for the "Load File" tab is C:\Program Files\MagTek\MagTek USBMSR 1.07
5. Select the appropriate language script.
6. Select the "Open" tab.
7. Wait for the command to load, and the device to reset.
8. Click on the "Read Cards" Tab to swipe a card to test.
9. Select the appropriate language script.
10. Select the "Open" tab.
11. Wait for the command to load, and the device to reset.
12. Click on the "Read Cards" Tab to swipe a card to test.
13. The MSR has now been remapped to a custom keyboard map.
