This article explains how to change the output mode of the Elo MSR

The below steps describe how to change the output mode on an Elo Magtek magnetic stripe reader (MSR).

1. Download and install the Magtek USBMSR Demo P/N: 99510026

2. Open the Magtek USBMSR Demo and allow it to detect the attached Elo MSR



3. To change the output mode, click on the Send Msg box and browse for the desired mode .txt command file.



4. In this example we are going to change the output mode from HID Mode Device to Keyboard Mode Device. Select the .txt file and choose Open.



5. The command file will load in the dialog box window, then click on Download to save it to the stripe reader.



6. The USBMSR Demo will download the commands to the stripe reader and then rescan and detect, finally showing: "Detected Keyboard Mode Device."



7. To test, click inside the dialog box, swipe a card and it should output the card's track information.

• Alternatively, you can close the USBMSR Demo, open Notepad or any text edit enabled field, swipe a card and it will read into the open field.
