What are the differences between the Q&A 3200 Controller and the 2701 Controller?

This article refers to the obsolescence of the 2701 SAW touch controller, D68054-000 and the controller's replacement

Since the announcement of the obsolescence of the 2701 SAW touch controller,D68054-000, we have received questions concerning the suggested replacement 3200 SAW controller. See below FAQ's.

Q: Is the 3200 controller a direct drop in replacement and can we use our current SAW touchscreens with the new 3200 series controller?

A: SAW touch sensors being used with the 2701 will also work with the 3200.

The 3200 and 2701 connect using the same cables and connectors:
- Serial cable: P/N D16890-000
- USB cable: P/N D38640-000
- Dual serial/USB cable: P/N D40022-000

Q: What is the part number for the 3200 which will emulate 2701 controller mode?

A: E205846 is configured at Elo's factory with 2701 emulation mode, see chart below:

Q: Are the mounting holes the same?

Q: We use the serial connection and not USB, is the serial protocol the same?

A: The serial protocol is exactly the same for both controllers.

Q: Will the firmware I am currently using with the 2701 series touchscreen work with the new 3200 series?

A: These are two different controller boards, each controller has its own firmware.

Q: We use the 3-point calibration on our 2701 controller boards, is it the same for the 3200?

A: If using the Elo touch driver, 3-point calibration is same for both controllers.

Q: Where can I find specifications for both controllers so I can compare them?
