This article explains what to do to fix an Elo monitor that goes to sleep even though PC set to never sleep
My computer is set to never sleep, why is the monitor going to sleep? Elo products comply to VESA standards for power/sleep modes. This means the monitor must be receiving a valid video signal in order to stay awake. Many computer systems have features built in to allow Windows to control power settings. With the addition of Windows 10 many new hidden power and sleep features have been introduced which many customers are unaware of. Please see below help to hopefully resolve the problem of your monitor going to sleep at unwanted times.
1. Check Advanced Sleep Options
a. Press Windows key + X
b. Click Power Options
c. Under related settings, click Additional power settings
d. Click Change when the computer sleeps
e. Click Change advanced power settings
f. Expand Sleep
g. Expand Sleep after
h. Expand Hibernate after
i. Expand Display
2. Update your video graphics driver
b. Click Device Manager
c. Expand Display Adapters
d. Right click on the current Display Adapter and choose Update Driver
e. After updating graphics driver, check all settings and make certain all sleep and hibernate options are set to NEVER.
3. Check for Sleep or Power Modes in your Computer's BIOS
The BIOS in many computers will have additional power/sleep/hibernate modes built in which can cause the monitor to not receive the power needed to stay awake. Check your BIOS for any settings like this. See THIS article from Microsoft for different power stages. Also see THIS article in the Ten Forums concerning sleep states in Windows 10.
4. Check Power and RTC Settings on Monitor
If you have an Elo IDS monitor, these have an Real Time Clock (RTC) option in the OSD menu that can be adjusted, to allow the monitor to be on or off at user specified times. See below from the 02-Series User's Guide .
5. Install Utility to Keep PC Awake
As a last resort, if all the above fails to keep your system awake, you may consider installing a 3rd party app such as Caffeine from Zhorn Software. Here is a description of what this software does: If you have problems with your PC locking or going to sleep, caffeine will keep it awake. It works by simulating a keypress once every 59 seconds, so your machine thinks you're still working at the keyboard, so won't lock the screen or activate the screensaver.
