This article explains the different trigger modes on an Elo SE4720 barcode scanner
Elo's 2D barcode scanners equipped with Zebra scan engines (SE2707, SE4107, SE4720) have the ability to be configured to use different types of "trigger" modes, see below for differences:
- Level Trigger Mode: In level trigger mode, the scanner is typically triggered by pressing a button or pulling a trigger to activate the scanning process. This mode is commonly used in situations where the scanner needs to be aimed at a specific barcode.
- Presentation Trigger Mode: In presentation trigger mode, the scanner is designed to automatically scan barcodes when they are presented in front of the scanner. This mode is commonly used in situations where the scanner needs to be used hands-free or where multiple barcodes need to be scanned quickly.
- Host Trigger Mode: Host trigger mode is typically used when the scanner is connected to a computer or other host device. In this mode, the scanner sends barcode data to the host device when the trigger is pulled. This mode is commonly used in inventory management, shipping and receiving, and other data collection applications.
- Auto-Aim Trigger Mode: Auto-aim trigger mode is designed to help users aim the scanner at barcodes more easily. In this mode, the scanner uses a laser or other targeting mechanism to automatically aim at the barcode, making it easier to scan quickly and accurately.
- Auto-Aim Illum Trigger Mode: Auto-aim illum trigger mode is similar to auto-aim trigger mode, but it also includes an illumination feature that helps to improve barcode readability. This mode is commonly used in low-light environments where barcodes may be difficult to read.
Overall, the differences between these five trigger modes relate to the way the scanner is activated to begin the scanning process, the intended use case, and the features provided by the scanner to improve barcode readability and accuracy.
