This article explains how to create a custom configuration barcode to program and configure multiple Elo 1st Gen. Honeywell scanners
1. Download and Install Honeywell EZConfig Software - Begin by downloading and installing the latest version of the Honeywell EZConfig software (currently version 4.5.58). For assistance with the software, please contact Honeywell Support .
2. Open EZConfig in Your Preferred Browser - After installation, open the EZConfig software using your preferred browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Edge). This guide uses the Chrome browser.
3. Select "DISCONNECTED DEVICE" - In the EZConfig software, choose the option "DISCONNECTED DEVICE."
4. Search for the Device - Enter "3600" in the "Search Device Number / Name" field and select "Honeywell N3600 Series Area Image Engine."
5. Begin Configuration - Click on "Honeywell N3600 Series Area Image Engine" in the "By Device" field to begin the configuration process.
6. Modify Input/Output Settings - Adjust settings as needed in the "Input/Output Settings" tab. Options include "Beeper Settings," "Scanning Options," and "Device Settings."
7. Modify Interface Settings - Adjust settings in the "Interfaces" tab, such as "Communications," "RS-232 Settings," and "Keyboard Wedge." For example, in our scenario, we changed the "Terminal ID" setting under the "Communications" tab to "USB HID Keyboard for PC." This enables the barcode scanner to input data directly into an open field (e.g., Notepad).
8. Make Additional Adjustments - Modify any other settings as needed in the remaining software categories.
9. Generate the Configuration Barcode - After completing the desired changes, select "GENERATE BAR CODE." In the provided example, we made the following changes:
- Bar Code Type: Changed to 2D
- Title: Added "Keyboard Emulation"
- Bar Code Size: Increased to 60%
10. Print or Save the Configuration Barcode - Select "PRINT" to use the pre-configured barcode for programming other Elo / Honeywell N3600 Series Area Image Engine-equipped barcode scanners. You can also save the barcode as a PDF for future printing.
