With EloView 4, you have complete control over what’s running on your devices. Start by uploading content to the App Library. EloView supports Android Apps (APKs), websites and web applications, as well as media files (MP4, PNG, JPG, PDF, and TXT). You can even setup an attract loop that automatically runs when the device is not in use, typically to encourage customers to interact with the device.
Adding an Android App (APK)
1. Login to the EloView 4 website at https://secure.eloview.com
2. Click on the Content icon on the left side of the page and then click Add Content (+) on the right side of the screen in the Content Library section.
3. Choose Upload Single File or URL.
4. You can either drag and drop your content to the popup menu or choose Select File. Then choose Next.
5. By default, you have the option to add an application (APK). Specify the following:
- The application name (some people include the app version in the name to allow for quick searches of devices by app) name and version
- Browse to the APK file
- Browse to the APK icon file
- A short description of the application
- Add a Tag (a Tag is a way to 'tag' content with a keyword that is easily used as part of Search or Filter criteria at a later date.)
6. Click the Add Content button when ready
- Note: it may take a few minutes to upload the new application to the App Library as the system initiates a software security scan to ensure the application is safe.
7. The new application will be displayed in the App Library under APKs.
8. To edit or delete the application, click the icon for the app in the App Library.
9. Click the Edit button to edit content name and/or description.
10. To delete the application, click the Delete App button.
Adding a Website/Web Application
1. In the “Content” area, click the Add Content (+) in the Content Library
2. Click the Upload a Single File or URL
3. Type in the web address in the Or add Url field. If the URL is local, click the Local URL box.
4. For a website, specify the following:
- Choose and icon for the WebApp
- The WebApp name (Content Name)
- Description
- Add a Tag (an easily identifiable word to assist with searching)
5. Click the Add Content button when ready
6. The new WebApp will be displayed in the App Library upon completion.
7. To edit or delete the WebApp, click the appropriate icon in the App Library.
8. Click the Edit button
9. Make all necessary changes to the website in order to enhance performance, customize the user interface and clear browser data:
- Content name and Description
- Show/hide the navigation bar
- Show/hide the loading bar
- Support/Not Support PDF documents
- Establish a timeout period (inactive time) after which the system will return to the home page
- Designate a View Mode – Full View or Form View. Select “Form View” for automatically scrolling within the website.
- WebView User Agent – choose the browser rendering engine to use. Select “Native” to use the default Android Chrome-based WebView (WebKit).
- Append information (site name, device name, or serial number) to the website address. This is considered a Smart URL and allows you to track individual device use and potentially customize the website experience for each device. For example, smart URLs can be used to display a store’s inventory.
- Enable/disable the sw/hw layer to speed up buffering of online videos
- Enable/disable the virtual keyboard
- Enable/disable SSL
- When done, click the Apply button
Adding a Media File (Zip File, MP4, etc.)
1. In the “Content” area, click the Add Content (+) in the Content Library.
2. Click Upload Single File or URL.
3. Choose Select File or Drag and Drop your file to this section. NOTE: make sure to create a zip file for any miscellaneous data packages (e.g. configuration files) before uploading to the App Library. Once deployed to devices, this miscellaneous data will be store in this location: /sdcard/elo/downloaded_content/slides/media.
4. Choose Next.
5. Provide the following information in the appropriate fields: Choose an App icon, Content Name, Description, and Tag Name and then click Add Content.
Adding Customer Attract Loop (Screensaver Mode)
1. In the “Content” area, click the Add Content (+) in the Content Library
2. Click the Create Attract Loop link
3. Select your Primary App then choose Next.
4. Select the Secondary App and then click Next.
5. Select your Attract Timer interval and then click Next.
6. Choose the App Icon and provide the Content Name, Description, Tag (if desired), and click Add Content to complete.
7. Your new Attract Loop can now found under the Attract header in Content Library.
Adding a Content Bundle
1. In the “Content” area, click the Add Content (+) in the Content Library'
2. Click the Create Bundle link.
3. Select your Foreground App and click Next.
4. Select your Background App(s) - (you can choose up to 5) and designate the order by selecting the dropdown. Then click Next.
5. Verify your selection and then click Next.
6. Specify the following:
- Choose your Bundle Icon
- Name your content
- Add a Tag if desired
7. Click Next to complete.
8. The new Bundle will be displayed in the Content Library under BUNDLE.
Downloading Content from the App Library
1. To download specific content (APKs, Media, Attract Loops/Bundles without WebApps) from the portal, click the icon in the Content Library.
2. Click the Download arrow.
