This article explains how to assign a specific EloView 4 (EV4) role to users within a SAML-based user database.
When SAML integration is enabled in EloView 4, roles can be assigned to users based on attributes passed in the SAML payload. This allows administrators to map user roles using Active Directory (AD) security groups or other SAML attributes.
Any available SAML attribute can be used to pass the “roles” designation to EloView. When configuring a new claim in Active Directory, it is recommended to align the attribute name and value with the expected EloView role format to ensure proper role assignment.
| Name | Source | Source attribute |
| firstName | Attribute | user.givenname |
| lastName | Attribute | user.surname |
| roles | Attribute | Based on user preference, any available attribute can be used. In EloView, by default, there are three types of roles available. Please apply one of those roles to the selected attribute.
