This article explains mounting a touchscreen monitor facedown and outlines the potential effects of this orientation
Every Elo touchscreen monitor is accompanied by a comprehensive User Manual that delineates the approved mounting procedures. Adhering to these guidelines is paramount to guaranteeing the secure installation and sustained functionality of your monitor.
In general, unless explicitly indicated otherwise in the product specifications, mounting a touchmonitor face down is discouraged. Doing so could lead to detrimental consequences, as outlined below.
1. Screen Damage - Neither the LCD panel or the glass touch sensor are designed to support their own weight when mounted face down. Mounting it in this manner could put stress on the screen, leading to cracks or other damage.
2. Image Quality - The LCD panel has polarizing filters that are optimized for the specificied orientations listed in the Users Manual. Mounting the panel upside down would negatively impact image quality, such as brightness and color accuracy.
3. Heat Dissipation - Mounting the monitor face down will impede proper airflow and heat dissipation, causing the monitor to overheat. In the User Manual you will find the specified mounting orientation. Some Elo open frame monitors may have stamped on the back the proper airflow direction for mounting.
4. Warranty Concerns - Damage that may occur when mounting the monitor face down will void the warranty.
