This article provides information about Enhanced OTA Update Management, Approved OTA.
Enhanced OTA (Over-the-Air) update features have been introduced with the release of EloView Web Portal Version 4.4.xx for Cloud. These new capabilities provide greater control and flexibility in managing software updates, including:
- The ability to specify which User Roles have permission to initiate and perform OTA software updates, ensuring only authorized users can manage updates.
- A new option for Admins and Account Admins to control the availability of OTA versions by selecting specific "Approved OTA" software update versions that users can access, preventing unintended or premature updates.
The following outlines the steps to define and enable an approved Over-the-Air (OTA) update in EloView.
Procedure
-
Sign In
- Go to https://secure.eloview.com/main/ and sign in to your EloView account.
-
Access Account Settings
- Click on the drop-down menu in the upper right corner and select Account.
-
Navigate to Settings
- In the Account section, click on Settings (gear icon).
-
Open the Software Tab
- In Account Details, scroll down and select the Software tab.
-
Access OTA Update Settings
- In the Update Available section, click on the Settings (gear icon) next to Available Versions.
-
Define Approved OTA
- In the Define Approved OTA section, beneath Device Model, click on the plus (+) icon.
-
Select Device Model
- From the Device Model drop-down menu, choose the desired model from the list.
-
Select Approved OTA Versions
- From the Approved OTA Versions drop-down menu, choose the desired OTA version(s).
-
Confirm Selection
- Click the Confirm button in the upper right corner.
-
Verify Confirmation Message
-
- A temporary message will appear at the bottom of the screen stating, "Approved OTAs are updated successfully."
- Exit Account Details
-
- Close the Account Details section.
- Review Approved OTAs
-
- Only the defined Approved OTAs will now be visible to the user, depending on their permission level.
- Once the approved OTA updates are enabled, the available OS update options—whether viewed on the device, filter, group, or account settings—will only display the approved OTA versions. If a device requests an update, the cloud will verify that the update being sent is from the approved OTA list, provided this feature is enabled.
- By default, both the Account Admin and Admin will have all OTA permissions enabled.
Notes
- Users must have the appropriate permissions to define and approve OTAs.
- Changes take effect immediately upon confirmation.
