Update Existing Android Devices to Android 8.1 AOSP in EloView 4

This article explains how to update supported Elo Android devices to Android 8.1 AOSP using EloView 4.

Upgrade Overview

All EloView 3.xx.xxx versions are based on Android 7.1.2 AOSP. Updating a device to EloView 4.xx.xxx+a will migrate the device to Android 8.1.0 AOSP.

Steps

1. Log in to your EloView account at:
   https://secure.eloview.com
2. Select the device you want to update.

3. Open the Software tab, then click Settings (gear icon) in the OS Update section.
    
4. Click the Available Versions dropdown to view all installable versions.

5. Select the desired EloView version from the dropdown.

• To install at a specific date and time, enable Schedule Update and configure the schedule.

• If you were provided a custom update package, enable Custom URL Path and enter the package URL.

6. Click Confirm. A dialog box will appear asking you to verify the update. Review the disclaimer, then click Yes to proceed.

7. A message will appear at the bottom of the screen confirming: "Software Update Scheduled."

8. A progress bar will display the message:
   "Your device will reboot and come online after the update is complete. This may take several minutes. It is safe to close this message."

9. When the progress bar reaches 100%, the update process will complete.

10. A final confirmation message will appear stating:
    "Your device will reboot and come online after the update is complete. This may take several minutes. It is safe to close this message."

Devices must be running Android 7.1.2 with EloView 3.46.50 or later to upgrade to Android 8.1.0 AOSP.
If the device is on an earlier EloView version, it must first be updated to 3.46.50 or newer, then upgraded to Android 8.1.0 AOSP.

• Any EloView version starting with 4.xx.xx indicates Android 8.1.0.

• A “+a” at the end of the version number (for example, 4.52.15+a) means Android 8.1.0 AOSP and does not support Google Play.

• Versions without “+a” (for example, 4.46.70) indicate Android 8.1.0 GMS with Google Play support and apply to EloView 3.x devices.
