How to Enable Touch Through Capability on Elo PCAP Monitors and Systems
Audience: Public / Elo Customers, Kiosk Integrators & Field Engineers
Article Type: Configuration Guide & Technical Specifications
Touch Through is a specialized hardware and firmware feature built into select Elo TouchPro® Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touch controllers. It enables multi-touch functionality through an added overlay—such as protective tempered cover glass or acrylic—placed directly over the front of the active touchscreen.
Depending on your product family, enabling Touch Through may be configured directly via the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or by applying a dedicated touch controller firmware update. Always verify your specific model’s User Guide for supported overlay configurations.
1. Desktop & Open Frame Touchmonitors
On most standard PCAP desktop and open frame monitors, Touch Through can be toggled directly from the built-in OSD menu:
- Open the OSD Menu by pressing the Menu button on the monitor's rear control buttons or external OSD remote.
- Navigate to Miscellaneous.
- Select Touch.
- Select Touch Through.
- Set the option to Enable.
2. Large Open Frame & Interactive Digital Signage (IDS) Displays
On large-format open frame and IDS displays, Touch Through availability varies by series:
- OSD Menu Control: Certain models allow enabling Touch Through directly via the OSD menu interface under the Touch/Advanced settings tab.
- Firmware Updates: Some models require a specialized touch controller firmware package to calibrate sensitivity for thick through-glass operation.
- To check if your model requires a specific firmware package, visit the Elo Touch Solutions Firmware Downloads Portal.
3. All-In-One (AiO) Touch Computers
On integrated computing platforms such as the Elo I-Series for Android (2.0 and 3.0, 15-inch and 22-inch models), Touch Through functionality is enabled through a dedicated controller firmware flash.
