This article details how to program a barcode reader connected to a 1902L
Please see the information below to program a barcode reader connected to a 1902L.
Executive Summary
When trying to program a barcode reader while connected to the Elo 1902L monitor’s Micro-USB port, the programming will fail during some sequences.
Root Cause
The reason for this behavior, is the design of the ID pin of the Micro-USB board on the monitor. The ID pin is tied to ground which does not allow the barcode scanner to utilize it for programming.
Correction
• Scenario 1: Removing the scanner from the monitor and connecting directly to a computer using a Micro-USB Female to Standard USB Male cable, allows the scanner to be programmed and changes are saved allowing it to be reconnected to the 1902L and function.

• Scenario 2: If connecting directly to the computer for programming is not acceptable, the monitor can be reworked with a differently designed Micro-USB board. This would require sending the monitor to Elo’s repair center to be re-worked.
