This article provides the installation procedure for the IDTECH magnetic stripe reader OPOS driver

Please follow the procedure below to install the IDTECH magnetic stripe reader OPOS driver. 

Install latest USBHID OPOS driver from IDTECH 

Install Steps: 
1. Download the appropriate OPOS driver above, wither KB or HID (most people use KB if you aren’t sure, ask your POS provider which one they require). 
2. Unzip the downloaded file, there will be two files; the driver, and an OPOS test utility 
3. Double click the driver .exe and run 
4. Restart your computer (you must restart or it will not function) 
5. Once restarted, double click the OPOS test utility .exe and run 

Testing Steps (refer to the three attached screen shots for visual clarity): NOTE: you can test using the steps below or you can simply skip the test utility and try it in your POS program. 
1. To test the card, go to Start/Programs/ID TECH OPOS/ID TECH MSR OPOS Test Program. 
2. Once in the Test Program, click on the drop down arrow at the top right and choose the appropriate MSR (if you installed the KB driver then you choose “USB HID KB: IDTECH_MMII_USBKB” 
3. Choose “Open” in the Test Program. 
4. Choose “Claim” in the Test Program. 
5. Go to the “Control” tab and place a check mark in the “Device Enabled” box and the “DataEventEnabled” box. 
6. Go to the “Track Data” tab and swipe a credit card. It should read the tracks into the field.
