How to Disable or Change Startup Boot Menu Timeouts on Elo Windows AiO Touchcomputers

On certain Elo Windows All-in-One (AiO) Touchcomputers (such as EloPOS, I-Series, and X-Series), the Windows Boot Manager displays a prompt or boot selection countdown (defaulting to 3 seconds) during startup. To optimize boot speed and eliminate user interaction prompts in kiosk or point-of-sale environments, you can reduce the startup choice delay or disable it completely using either of the methods below.

Method 1: Command Line via BCDEdit Tool (Recommended for Scripting)

Use the built-in Windows Boot Configuration Data Editor (bcdedit.exe) to set the boot menu timeout to zero seconds:

1. Open Command Prompt with administrative privileges (right-click Command Prompt > select Run as administrator).

2. Type the following command and press Enter:

   bcdedit /timeout 0

3. A confirmation message reading "The operation completed successfully" will appear. The OS boot selection screen will now be bypassed automatically during startup.

Method 2: Windows System Properties GUI

Alternatively, configure startup delay parameters directly through the Windows graphical interface:

1. Press Win + R, type sysdm.cpl, and press Enter (or open Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings).
2. Select the Advanced tab.
3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click the Settings… button.
4. Uncheck the box for Time to display list of operating systems (or set the value directly to 0 seconds).
5. Click OK, then click Apply and OK to close System Properties.
