This article explains how to get the 2D Barcode Scanner, P/N: E393160, to read into Open Field or Notepad

Elo's E393160, 2D Barcode Scanner is factory default to read SNAPI Interface. This setting does not allow you to scan barcodes into Notepad or other open fields. If your application requires scanning barcodes into an open field or Notepad, follow the steps outlined below.

***ONLY USE THE USB KEYBOARD HID BARCODE FROM THE ATTACHED QUICK INSTALL GUIDE***

1. Scan the USB Keyboard HID barcode - the scanner should emit several quick beeps recognizing the barcode has been scanned (4 quick beeps)



2. A momentary pause will happen and then you should hear 3 more audible beeps low, medium, high

3. There will be another pause and the same 3 audible beeps will emit.

4. If you do not hear the 3 audible beeps mentioned above, you will need to disconnect the scanner and reconnect and then you should hear the 3 beeps and the scanner should then be set for Keyboard Emulation and should then scan barcodes into an open field or Notepad.
