How to Replace the CMOS Battery in Elo X-Series AiO TouchComputers

This procedure provides step-by-step instructions for safely accessing, removing, and replacing the Real-Time Clock (RTC) / CMOS battery in Elo X-Series All-In-One (AiO) TouchComputers.

Required Replacement Part

• Battery Type: Standard 3V Lithium CR2032 CMOS battery with wire leads and 2-pin Molex/JST micro-connector (pre-wrapped with adhesive backing).

Replacement Steps

1. Position the Unit: Place the X-Series unit face down onto a clean, soft protective mat or anti-static foam surface to prevent scratching the touchscreen glass.

2. Remove Rear Cover: Grasp the two thumb release tabs located at the bottom of the rear plastic housing, pull gently upward, and slide the cover upward and forward away from the chassis.

   

3. Locate the CMOS Battery: The CMOS battery is mounted at the top section of the display head assembly.

   

4. Disconnect Battery Harness: Disconnect the wire harness connector from the mainboard header by grasping the connector housing firmly and pulling straight upward.

   

5. Remove Battery: The battery is secured to the chassis board with double-sided adhesive tape. Gently lift and peel the battery up until the adhesive releases.

   

6. Install New Battery: Affix the replacement CR2032 wired battery into position using adhesive tape, connect the 2-pin connector firmly to the motherboard header, and reinstall the rear chassis cover.
