This article explains how test a barcode scanner in Windows
Testing a barcode scanner in Windows will require just a few items.
1. Ensure the barcode scanner is in HID mode.
- If you have an Elo barcode scanner, the barcode needed can be found in your device's user manual. Otherwise, check with your barcode reader's manufacturer to determine the best way to put the scanner in HID mode.
2. Notepad should be installed.
3. A barcode which uses supported symbology and characters for the barcode reader.
Once all the items are gathered and installed please follow the steps below.
1. Open Notepad and ensure Notepad is the active window.
2. Scan the barcode
3. If setup correctly, the barcode should print into Notepad.
