This article addresses compatibility of HDMI monitors with DisplayPort inputs on computers.
Question: My pc only has DisplayPort outputs but my Elo monitor has HDMI input, how can I get it to work?
Answer: Elo recommends using native video connections and no converters or adapters whenever possible. If your computer only has DisplayPort outputs but your monitor has HDMI inputs you will need to use an adapter or converter; however, you will need to know which type of DisplayPort output your pc has - DisplayPort Dual-Mode (DP++) or DisplayPort Single-Mode.
If your DisplayPort output is DisplayPort Dual-Mode (DP++) you can use a passive adapter. These are relatively inexpensive, such as this one from StarTech.
If your DisplayPort output is DisplayPort Single-Mode you must use an active adapter to convert the signal. Active adapters are a little more expensive than passive as they are integrated with a chip which performs the video signal conversion. An example of an active DP to HDMI converter is this one from StarTech.
Elo cannot guarantee compatibility with any video converters or adapters.
