This article explains how to apply the latest OTA update to an I-Series 2.0 and BackPack 2.0 devices using a microSD card
Steps to apply latest OTA update to Elo Android I-Series, BackPack, PayPoint, and PayPoint Plus devices using microSD Card (Auto Update)
Pre-Condition (using microSD Card and PC)
1. Download latest OTA update using Desktop browser. Contact Elo Tech Support for very latest update file.
2. Use a microSD Card (preferably 8GB or 16GB) formatted with FAT32 filesystem.
- If micro SD Card is recognized, there should not be any issues. If microSD Card is not recognized, use a Linux machine only to Format the microSD Card with FAT32 filesystem (Android will not recognize other formats).
3. Rename downloaded .zip file to update.zip
- For example: If your downloaded OTA update file is msm8953_64-ota-4.54.15+a.zip, rename it to update.zip
Steps on device:
1. Unplug the power cable of device
2. Insert the microSD Card on SD Card slot (typically SD Card slot will be next to USB Type-A / HDMI port)
3. Press "Home" button and plug in the power the cable
4. On device, "Elo" logo will be shown and device will enter in to recovery mode
5. On device recovery mode , Select "Apply update from SD Card" [Navigate using "Home" button," select using "Power" button]
6. On device recovery mode, select "update.zip" file using power button
7. Device will apply the OTA file and reboot the device with latest OTA applied version.
8. It is expected device to reboot twice and wipes data partiton [This results in losing the Android 7.1.2 data - Applicable mainly upgrading from Andorid-7 to Android-8 ]
