This article describes how to test the serial port on the Elo I-Series 4 with Z20 or Z30 POS Stand
The serial port should be active through the RJ12 port on the stand. If you are using a serial peripheral with a standard DB9 connection, you will need to use an RS232 DB9 to RJ12 adapter. This port can also be used for a Cash Drawer port.
1. With a serial device connected to the RJ12 port, from Android Home, go to Apps section and open Serial Port Test
- Note: This procedure uses a DB9 Loopback Plug for testing purposes.
2. Go into Setup to change the port settings
3. Change Serial port setup settings to match your serial device's settings. For testing purposes, we used a Loopback plug and the following settings were applied:
- Device: /dev/ttyACM1
- Baud rate: 19200
- Data bits: CS8 (0x30)
- Stop bits: STOP_1 (0)
- Partiy: NONE (0)
4. Go back to the Serial Port Test window and choose LOOPBACK
5. You will see the data bytes being sent and received. In our Loopoback test, the device sent 641 bytes and received back 641 bytes with zero lost or corrupted bytes.
6. After testing, go back to the Serial Port Test window and choose QUIT
