I-Series 5 Slate: Why Power over Ethernet (PoE) Is Not Supported
This article explains why Power over Ethernet (PoE) is not supported on I-Series 5 Slate devices and clarifies how PoE support differs across the I-Series 5 product family.
Why PoE Is Not Supported on Slate Models
Although PoE is available on select I-Series 5 devices using the Elo PoE Module (PN: E669163), Slate models are designed differently and do not include the required hardware interface to support PoE.
- No Physical PoE Connector: Slate models do not include the internal connector required to attach the Elo PoE module.
- Different Power Architecture: Slate devices are designed to be powered through:
- USB-C power delivery (PD)
- DC input via the I/O hub
- No PoE Installation Support: The Slate User Manual does not include any steps or references for PoE installation.
Which I-Series 5 Models Support PoE?
PoE support is available on select I-Series 5 models that include the required hardware interface for the Elo PoE Module.
- I-Series 5 (Standard models): Supported via Elo PoE Module (PN: E669163)
- I-Series 5 Slate models: Not supported
Summary
I-Series 5 Slate devices do not support PoE because they lack the necessary hardware interface required for the Elo PoE Module. Customers requiring PoE functionality should use supported I-Series 5 standard models or alternative Elo products designed for PoE operation.
