How to Use Android Debug Bridge (ADB) with I-Series 4.0 Devices

This article provides instructions for enabling developer options and connecting to an Elo I-Series 4.0 device — Now part of Zebra Technologies — using the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) over Wi-Fi/Ethernet or a direct USB connection.

Step 1: Enable Developer Mode on the I-Series Device

1. Navigate to the Android Settings menu.
2. Go to About tablet → Build Number.
3. Tap on the Build Number field seven (7) consecutive times. You will see a notification confirming that you are now in developer mode.
4. Go back to the main ⚙️ Settings menu, then navigate to System → Advanced.
5. You will now see a new "Developer Options" menu. Select it.
6. From the Developer Options screen, locate the option called "USB debugging" and enable it.

Step 2 (Option A): Connect via Wi-Fi/Ethernet

1. On the Elo device, find its IP address by navigating to ⚙️ Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi. Tap the active network connection, then select Advanced to view the IP Address.

2. On your host computer, open a command prompt or terminal and use the following command to connect, replacing <IP address> with the device's actual IP address:

   adb connect <IP address>

Step 2 (Option B): Connect via USB

1. Ensure the USB cable is disconnected from the I-Series 4.0 device.
2. Navigate to ⚙️ Settings → System → Advanced → Developer Options.
3. Confirm that the "Enable USB Debugging" option is turned on.
4. Plug the USB Type-A to Type-A cable into the I-Series device and the host PC.

5. On the host PC, open a command prompt or terminal and enter the following command to verify the connection:

   adb devices
6. If the command returns the Elo I-Series 4.0 serial number in the list of devices, you have successfully connected via ADB.
