This article provides a guide for installing a non-Elo version of Windows 10 on an Elo AIO touch Intel based touch computer.
These are general steps as outlined by Microsoft. This may be necessary if you want to erase your existing copy of Windows from your computer and install a new one. Be sure to back up any important files that you want to keep, as this process will erase all data from the current operating system.
Note: These steps assume you already have a licensed copy of a Non-Elo version of Windows 10
1. Prepare Installation Media
-
Download the Windows 10 Installation Tool:
- Go to the Microsoft Windows 10 download page.
- Click on "Download tool now" to download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool.
-
Create Installation Media:
- Run the Media Creation Tool.
- Choose "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC."
- Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit).
- Choose "USB flash drive" or "ISO file" to burn it to a DVD later.
- Follow the prompts to create the installation media.
2. Backup Important Data
- Before proceeding, ensure you back up any important files, as the installation process will erase all data on the system drive.
3. Install Windows 10
-
Boot from Installation Media:
- Insert the USB drive or DVD into the computer.
- Restart the computer and boot from the installation media. You may need to press a key (like F2, F12, Delete, or Esc) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings and change the boot order.
-
Start Installation:
- Once the installation media loads, select your language, time, and keyboard preferences, then click "Next."
- Click "Install Now."
-
Enter Product Key:
- If prompted, enter your Windows 10 product key. If you don’t have one, you can click "I don’t have a product key" and activate Windows later.
-
Select Installation Type:
- Choose "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)" to perform a clean installation.
-
Partition the Drive:
- Select the drive where you want to install Windows. If you want to completely wipe the drive, delete all partitions and select the unallocated space to install Windows. Be aware that this will erase all data on the drive.
-
Install:
- Click "Next" to begin the installation process. Windows will copy files and install the operating system.
-
Set Up Windows:
- After installation, the system will reboot, and you’ll go through the initial setup process (OOBE). Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your region, language, and account settings.
4. Install Drivers and Updates
- Once Windows is installed, connect to the internet and allow Windows to automatically download and install the latest drivers and updates.
- There may be specific Elo drivers needed. These can be found in the driver packs offered on the Elo website . Choose your Elo computer from the list and download the driver pack(s).
5. Restore Data
- After the setup is complete, you can restore your backed-up data and reinstall any necessary applications.
This process will provide you with a fresh installation of Windows 10, free of any previous data or configurations.
