This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and setting up the E673037 Omnikey 5127CK RFID Reader on a Windows PC
The procedure was performed using an Elo E‑Series 2 All‑in‑One (AIO) Touchcomputer running Windows 11.

⚠️ Important:
Do not connect the RFID Reader until all drivers have been installed.
The drivers and utilities in this article for the Omnikey 5127CK RFID Reader are only compatible with Windows operating systems.
Step 1: Install the OMNIKEY CCID Driver
Download and install the OMNIKEY CCID Driver from the HID Global website:

a. Click on the Download link
b. Accept the end user license agreement.
c. Extract the downloaded file to a folder on your computer.
d. Run the installer that matches your system, either x86 or x64.
e. Select Next.
f. Check the box to accept the license terms, then select Next.
g. Choose Typical to install the standard features, then select Next.
h. Select Install.
i. Select Finish to complete installation.
Step 2: Install the OMNIKEY USB CDC EEM Driver
Download and install the OMNIKEY USB CDC EEM Driver:

a. Click on the Download link
b. Accept the end user license agreement.
c. Extract the downloaded file to a folder on your computer.
d. Run the installer that matches your system, either x86 or x64.
e. Select Next.
f. Check the box to accept the license terms, then select Next.
g. Choose Next.
h. Select Install.
i. A message will appear stating the device can be attached—do not attach the device yet!
- Choose OK to continue.
j. Select Finish to complete installation.
Step 3: Install the OMNIKEY Workbench Application
Download and install the OMNIKEY Workbench App:

a. Click on the Download link
b. Accept the end user license agreement.
d. Run the installer that matches your system, either x86 or x64.
e. Check the box to accept the license terms, then select Install.
f. Select Finish.
g. If you choose to launch OMNIKEY Workbench, the utility will open. However, as the RFID device is not yet connected, no information will be displayed.
Please proceed to the next section "Connect the RFID Reader".
Step 4: Connect the RFID Reader & Launch OMNIKEY Workbench
Once all drivers are installed, connect the EdgeConnect RFID Reader to your Windows PC.
Connect the reader, then open OMNIKEY Workbench. The application will detect the RFID reader and display its information.
Step 5: Configure Settings
Use the available tabs in Workbench to adjust your desired reader settings.

Troubleshooting
Problem: The RFID Reader is not detected in OMNIKEY Workbench.
- Ensure all drivers (CCID Driver and USB CDC EEM Driver) are installed before connecting the reader.
- Try a different USB port, preferably one directly connected to the motherboard (rear panel on desktops).
- Check Windows Device Manager for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark under "Smart Card Readers."
- Reboot the computer after driver installation.
Problem: Reader detected, but cards are not read successfully.
- Verify that the RFID card type is compatible (e.g., MIFARE Standard 4K).
- Ensure the card is placed correctly on the reader surface.
- Open OMNIKEY Workbench and check under “Reader Settings” to confirm communication is active.
Problem: Driver installation fails or shows an error.
- Run the installer as Administrator.
- Disable antivirus or security software temporarily if it blocks the installer.
- Check Windows Update for pending system driver updates.
- Manually uninstall any previous OMNIKEY drivers before reinstalling.
