This article provides the procedure to test the VFD on an Android I-Series unit
Please see the procedure below to test a VFD on an Android I-Series unit.
Procedure
1. Apply OTA update for the latest EloView release while in EloView mode (EloView Control Panel Settings Update Device).
2. Connect the VFD to the Elo I-Series with Android OS.
a. You will notice on the VFD’s display it will read: “Installing Customer Display”
3. Go into the Apps section of Android Home and choose “Advance Peripheral”
4. Go to the “FTDI” tab at bottom of screen and then click on the “GET USB DEVICE LIST”
5. Click on the drop-down arrow and select the /dev/ttyUSB10
6. Type in the text of your choice.
7. Tap the white area of the screen a few times to make the virtual keyboard go away, then click on the “FTDI TEST” button.
8. The text should then read out on the VFD, verifying that it functions.
a. You can then proceed to write your Android code to function with the VFD on the virtual comport /dev/ttyUSB10
