This article details how to install the Labau VFD on Windows 10

Please see below steps to install the E001003 VFD on Windows 10 systems. These steps are also attached to this article in .pdf form.

Driver and Files Needed

• Driver files can be downloaded here

Steps:

1. Do NOT connect the VFD to the monitor until indicated in step #8

2. Download the VFD Customer Display files from link above.

3. The below files will be in that location:



4. Unzip the PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1200.zip and double click the PL2303-Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1200.exe



5. Choose Next



6. The driver will then begin installing. It typically finishes in less than a minute.



7. Click Finish 



8. Shutdown the computer. While it is shutdown, connect the VFD to the monitor.

9. Once computer boots back up, Windows will finish installing the VFD. 

10. You should now be able to go into Windows Device Manager and find the Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port listed. Make note of the COM number, this is what you will use to setup the VFD.



11. Unzip the VFDSetup_v6.1.1.7 file to a folder and run the VFD_Setup_v6.1.1.7.exe from the unzipped folder.



12. Choose the newly created virtual comport from the Com Port Select dropdown.



13. Click on the “Welcome Message” section and change Line 1 and Line 2 whatever you desire.



14. Click on the “Download Setting” button and you should receive a dialog box indicating Download Success. 



15. You should be able to see your new message displayed on the VFD.



16. To further test the VFD you can go into the Display Testing section and try some of the tests.



17. You can also go into the ISP section and save different messages.
