This article provides the step-by-step procedure for upgrading the optical engine firmware on the Elo 2D Barcode Scanner (P/N: E926356 / Honeywell N3680 scan engine) using the Honeywell EZ Config for Scanning utility.
Required Software, Firmware & Materials
- Elo 2D Barcode Scanner: P/N E926356 (connected to a Windows PC or compatible Elo host computer).
- Configuration Software: Honeywell™ EZ Config for Scanning v4.5.35 (or higher).
- Windows Target Firmware Binary: CZ000170BBA.MOC (For scanners deployed in Windows environments).
- Android Target Firmware Binary: CZ000142HAA.MOC (For scanners deployed on Elo Android devices).
⚠️ Updating Scanners Used on Android Systems: Firmware flashing must be performed from a Windows computer. If the scanner is equipped with a Micro-USB connector from an Elo Android terminal, connect it to the Windows update PC using a standard USB-A Male to Micro-USB Female Adapter.
Step-by-Step Firmware Upgrade Procedure
- Install Utility: Download and install EZ Config for Scanning v4.5.35 on your Windows PC.
- Connect Scanner & Launch: Connect the E926356 barcode scanner to the PC via USB, then launch the EZ Config application.
- Select Device: Click on Connected device on the main dashboard screen.
- Navigate to Update Screen: Select Update Firmware from the device options menu.

- Perform Flash: Initiate the update and allow the tool to complete the flash process without interruption (typically takes a few minutes).

Verify Completion: When finished, verify the confirmation message on screen:
"Flash successful Reconnecting with Device"
✔ Complete: The scanner firmware upgrade is complete and the device can now be reconnected to the production host system.
