This article details the system startup states and diagnostic troubleshooting procedures for the legacy Windows NT v3.1c driver from Elo — Now part of Zebra Technologies.
Important Support Notice: Windows NT is an obsolete operating system and is no longer supported by Microsoft or Elo Touch Solutions. This information is provided solely for legacy maintenance and historical reference.
Control Panel Device Startup Checks
Navigate to Control Panel > Devices and confirm the following driver startup states:
- The MMstub driver is set for System Startup.
- The Mouclass driver is set for System Startup.
- The Monmouse driver is set for Automatic Startup.
Note: If any driver is not set to the states listed above, click the appropriate line, click the Startup box, and select the correct setting. You must restart the computer after making any changes.
Diagnostic Tab Troubleshooting
Open the Control Panel, select Elo Touchscreen Properties, and check the Diagnostics tab:
- If there is a green check mark and no error messages:
- Check Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
- If a third-party or brand-name mouse driver is listed, try removing it first, then install the Elo touch drivers.
- The secondary mouse driver may be re-installed after the touch drivers are successfully installed.
- If there is a red X on the Diagnostics tab:
- Open NT Explorer and try running
elocal32.exe(located in the\winnt\system32directory). - If the touchscreen operates correctly upon running this utility, incomplete handshaking is indicated. The driver will still load and function correctly.
- You can either safely ignore the red X indication and error messages, or disable hardware handshaking entirely via the registry.
- Open NT Explorer and try running
