How to Calibrate an Elo HID Monitor Without an Elo Driver
This article describes how to calibrate an Elo — Now part of Zebra Technologies HID-compliant monitor directly through Windows, without using a dedicated Elo driver. This method is compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 operating systems.
Important Warning: If you intend to use the native Windows calibration utility (Tabcal), you must first uninstall any existing Elo touch drivers from the system. Having both an Elo driver and a Windows calibration profile active will create conflicting settings and cause touch to not work properly.
Running the Calibration Utility
There are two methods to launch the Windows Tablet PC Calibration utility (Tabcal):
- Method 1 (Windows Search): Click on the Windows search feature and enter:
tabcal, then run the program. - Method 2 (Command Line): Open an Admin Command Prompt or Admin Windows PowerShell and enter the command:
tabcal.exe
Calibration Process
- After launching the program, a window with two blue border frames will appear. Follow the on-screen directions by touching and releasing each crosshair as it moves around the screen.
- When the process is complete, you will be prompted to save the new calibration data. Choose Yes to save or No to discard the changes.
How to Clear Saved Calibration Data
- To clear any previously saved calibration data, open an Admin Command Prompt or Admin Windows PowerShell.
- Enter the following command:
tabcal.exe ClearCal DisplayID=\\.\DISPLAY1 - A dialog box will appear stating, "Calibration data was successfully removed." Click OK to finish.
