Windows NT Driver (v3.1c) Incorrect COM Port Display Bug
This article explains a known port display bug inside the legacy Windows NT touch driver (v3.1c) from Elo — Now part of Zebra Technologies.
Important Support Notice: Please note that Windows NT is an obsolete operating system and is no longer supported by Microsoft or Elo Touch Solutions. This information is provided for historical reference only.
Incorrect COM Port Indication
When utilizing the Windows NT v3.1c driver, the system connection port for the touchscreen is always displayed in the driver configuration utility as COM1. This incorrect indicator occurs even if the touchscreen is physically connected and communicating through COM2 (or another valid COM port).
Cause: This behavior is a known display bug in the legacy driver's user interface code. Because Windows NT has reached End-of-Life (EOL), this cosmetic display issue was not corrected and will remain present in the v3.1c driver package. Despite the incorrect text display, the touchscreen will continue to function properly on its actual assigned hardware port.
