This article explains why some users cannot install the Mac drivers on a macos 12.3 or higher system
This is a known issue. UPDD installers, created before 23rd March 2022, rely on the Python 2.7 scripting language being available. Apple has removed this from Mac Systems 12.3 and higher.
Mac drivers with version 735 installer, will not install correctly, instead, the installer will 'silently' fail and the installation will be incomplete. At the end of the installation, no driver is loaded, the UPDD Daemon icon is missing and the UPDD Commander icon shows an '!' to indicate it can't communicate with the driver API.
To correct for this issue, a newly released, upddv6.dmg driver with version 749 installer, became available as of 4-13-2022, please download here.
To uninstall the older driver:
- Execute the “UPDD Uninstaller” from the following location: /library/application support/updd folder
- Full uninstall steps: http://support.touch-base.com/Documentation/50152/Uninstall-procedure
After uninstalling older driver, proceed with installing the new driver. Installation Guide Here
- Important: User needs to allow UPDD driver to modify the system in “Security & Privacy” during the installation.
