This article provides a procedure for updating the BIOS Firmware on legacy Elo Windows I-Series 1.0 devices (Gen.1) with i5 processors. (ESY15i5, ESY22i5)
Tools Needed:
- Elo Gen. 1, I-Series 1.0 with Windows i5 device
- USB Flash Drive
- BIOS FW Update File (Newest for the I-Series i5 Gen. 1 as of this writing, SA26V121.zip)
1. Connect a physical keyboard to the Elo i5 unit and press Ctrl + F2 during bootup to enter the Admin BIOS – when prompted for password, enter: eloelo
2. Go to the Advanced Tab and enter the PCH-FW Configuration section.
3. Enter the Firmware Update Configuration and change Me FW Image Re-Flash to Enabled
4. Press F4 to Save changes and Exit the BIOS.
5. WARNING! If your BIOS is one of the below listed below, an additional step is needed on the first reboot:
- SA26000HF60V120
- SA26000HF60V118
- SA26000HF60V116
The above BIOS versions require going back into the BIOS on the first reboot and enabling the ME Firmware Image Reflash again as shown in Steps 1-3. If this is not done, you run the risk of deleting the ME Firmware. On these systems, after the first ME F/W enable and before the second ME F/W enable, the ME F/W version will show 0.0.0.0 in the BIOS, this is normal.
- If your BIOS is NOT one of the above versions, proceed to the next step #6.
6. After computer restarts and boots into Windows, right click on the Start menu and choose the Admin Command Prompt option.
7. In Command Prompt, navigate to the location of the new firmware update file. In this example we unzipped the folder to the root of the C:\ drive. Run the UPDATE.BAT to execute the flash.
8. Restart the computer when finished for the changes to take effect.
