This articles explains how to remove incompatible touch drivers from Windows 11
Elo single-touch 5.8.2 driver is not compatible with Windows 11, see below. Windows 11 touch driver support began with Elo multi-touch driver version 8.0, all previous touch drivers are incompatible, including the Elo single-touch 5.8.2 driver. If an incompatible driver gets installed on a Windows 11 system, it may not uninstall correctly and will remain "stuck" in Add/Remove programs. Example below of single-touch 5.8.2 driver that was installed on Windows 11 and would not remove from Add/Remove programs:
Below are steps to successfully remove an incompatible touch driver from a Windows 11 system.
WARNING: Be very careful when editing the Windows Registry. Making incorrect changes could make your computer unstable or unusable.
1. Open the Windows 11 Registry Editor. Below are two methods to open the Registry Editor:
- Type Registry Editor into the Windows 11 search field and select it from the list that populates.
- Use the Windows 11 Run tool:
1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run tool.
2: In the text field, type regedit and click OK to launch the Registry Editor.
2. Once in the Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\EloTouchscreen
3. Right click on the EloTouchscreen folder and choose Delete
4. Choose Yes to confirm key deletion
5. Close Registry Editor and restart system. All Elo touch driver files should now be gone. If you need to install a Windows 11 touch driver, please visit the Download page for Windows 11
