How to Update (Flash) BIOS on Elo ECMG4 with H110 BIOS
Download the latest ECMG4-H110 BIOS package from the Elo Support firmware page:
- Do not power off, unplug, or restart the system during the BIOS update. Interrupting the process may permanently damage the system board.
- Use only BIOS files intended for the Elo ECMG4-H110. Installing the wrong BIOS may render the system unusable.
- Connect the system to stable power.
- Use a USB drive formatted as FAT32.
- Copy files to the root of the USB drive (not inside folders).
- If updating in Windows, close all applications first.
Overview
The BIOS package typically includes two update types:
- ROM = System BIOS only
- BIN = Full BIOS package (includes System BIOS and Intel Management Engine)
Option 1: ROM BIOS Update
Method A: Update ROM using UEFI Shell (USB)
- Copy the ROM BIOS file and flash utilities to the root of a USB drive.
- Insert the USB drive into the ECMG4-H110.
- Boot the system from the USB drive and enter UEFI Shell.
- At the prompt, run:
update
Wait for the update to complete, then reboot the system.
Method B: Update ROM in Windows (64-bit)
- Copy the ROM BIOS file and flash utilities to the root of a USB drive.
- In Windows, open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Run the ROM update script:
update
Wait for the update to complete, then reboot the system.
Option 2: BIN BIOS Update (Full BIOS + ME)
Before flashing a BIN BIOS, you must disable ME Control in BIOS. If ME Control is not disabled, the BIN update may fail or become corrupted.
Step 1: Disable ME Control (required)
- Enter BIOS Setup.
- Locate ME Control.
- Set ME Control to Disabled.
- Save changes and exit BIOS.
Method A: Update BIN using UEFI Shell (USB)
- Copy the BIN BIOS file and flash utilities to the root of a USB drive.
- Insert the USB drive into the ECMG4-H110.
- Boot the system from the USB drive and enter UEFI Shell.
- At the prompt, run:
flash
Wait for the update to complete, then reboot the system.
Method B: Update BIN in Windows (64-bit)
- Copy the BIN BIOS file and flash utilities to the root of a USB drive.
- In Windows, open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Run the BIN update script:
flash
Wait for the update to complete, then reboot the system.
After the Update
- Reboot the system when the update completes.
- Enter BIOS Setup to confirm the new BIOS version.
- Restore any custom BIOS settings if needed.
- Confirm you used the correct BIOS file for the Elo ECMG4-H110.
- For BIN updates, confirm ME Control is set to Disabled.
- Confirm all files are located in the root of the USB drive.
- Retry using the alternate method (UEFI Shell vs Windows).
If the issue persists, contact Elo Technical Support and provide:
