This article explains ghost touches on Elo monitors
Ocassionaly customers will contact Support describing an anomaly where they are receiving "ghost touches," "phantom touches" or "clicking all on its own." While these occurances are very rare, below are some things to check in the event you experience them.
Ghost touches are usually environmental related. Move the unit to another area and see if the problem goes away. If so, then there may be something causing electrical interference.
Here are some things to try to eliminate ghost touches:
- Look for un-grounded electrical equipment or equipment that may put off electrical charges or high frequencies and correct them.
- Look for items which emit high ratings of EMI such as electric motors, walkie-talkies, two-way radios, neon lighting, etc. Remove these from the immediate area if possible or move the monitor to a different location away from such devices.
- If using a PCAP or IR technology monitor, remove any touch drivers that have been installed and try using the monitor without them - this typically works best, especially in Windows, Android, and Linux systems which are all HID compliant.
- If using IntelliTouch technology monitor, check and see if there is anything stuck to the screen, even on the black border around the edges. If so, remove the object, clean up any leftover residue, cycle power to the monitor and try again. Please refer to our knowledge article HERE .
- Try using a power conditioner or other such equipment to reduce electrical noise. See example power conditioner HERE .
