Enabling Automatic Reset (Frozen Touch Recovery) & Event Logging for Elo PCAP Controllers

This technical bulletin describes configuration parameters within the Elo Multi-Touch driver that enable automatic controller reset during touch "freeze" conditions and log kernel-level touch telemetry to Windows Event Viewer.

Step-by-Step Configuration Procedure

1. Download Driver Package: Download the latest Elo Windows Multi-Touch Driver.

2. Extract Without Auto-Running: Run the self-extractor, but uncheck the option "When done unzipping open: Setup.exe" to prevent the installer from launching immediately. Click Unzip.

   

3. Click OK on the success message, then close the WinZip Self-Extractor window.

   

4. Locate Extracted Files: Open Windows File Explorer and navigate to your temporary extraction folder (default path: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Temp\).

   

5. Open the extracted driver folder (e.g., SW602723_EloMultiTouch_7.0.x), navigate into the Common subdirectory, and open EloOptions.ini in a text editor like Notepad.

   

6. Enable Frozen Touch Recovery & Timeout: In the [Setup Options] section:

   • Locate ;PCapFrozenTouchRecovery → Remove the leading semicolon (;) and change the value to: PCapFrozenTouchRecovery = 1
   • Locate ;PCapFrozenTouchResetTimeout → Remove the leading semicolon (;) and set to: PCapFrozenTouchResetTimeout = 1000 (adjust to 1000 ms for faster reset response).

   

7. Enable Kernel Event Logging: In the [Device Default] section:

   • Locate LogKernelEvents → Change the value to: LogKernelEvents = 1

   

8. Save Changes: Save and close the modified EloOptions.ini file.

   

9. Execute Driver Installation: Return to the root extracted driver directory (e.g., C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Temp\SW602723_EloMultiTouch_7.0.x), run EloSetup.exe as administrator, and complete the installation wizard.

   

Viewing & Exporting Logs in Windows Event Viewer

1. Open Windows Event Viewer (press Win + R, type eventvwr.msc, and hit Enter).
2. Navigate to Windows Logs > System in the left console tree.
3. Right-click System and select Save All Events As….
4. Save the log as an .evtx file. When prompted for display information, select English (United States) and click OK.
