This article provides Elo’s recommended cleaning methods and guidelines
Last Updated April 22, 2025
This technical bulletin describes the recommended cleaning and disinfecting procedures for Elo products. Included are recommended disinfectant products that are safe for use with Elo products and approved by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Cleaning and disinfecting are two separate steps. Cleaning removes dirt, grease, dust and other contaminants. Disinfecting is a process that uses a chemical designed to destroy bacteria. Please note that many pre-moistened wipes require dwell time on the product’s surface. Without achieving the appropriate dwell time, the disinfectant is less effective. Please refer to the instructions on your cleaning product before administering a cleaning on any Elo product.
Cleaning your Elo Product
- To prepare the touchscreen for cleaning, power down the device (if possible), or ensure your on-screen software can tolerate false touches while you clean.
- Do not get liquids inside the unit. Do not spray the Elo product directly. Instead, use wet wipes or a non-abrasive cloth sprayed or dampened with the cleaning solution and the excess moisture squeezed out.
- Avoid highly concentrated alcohol ( 70%), non-diluted bleach or ammonia solutions, as these may cause discoloration.
- Wipe all surfaces with the appropriate wipes or cloths and approved cleaning products and allow them to dry.
