How to Manually Uninstall the Windows NT Driver (v3.1c)

This article provides step-by-step instructions for manually removing the legacy Windows NT v3.1c touch driver from Elo — Now part of Zebra Technologies.

Deleting Driver Files

1. Right-click the Start button and select Explore to open Windows Explorer.
2. Navigate to the WinNT folder and double-click to open it.
3. Open the System32 subfolder (located inside the WinNT folder) and delete the following system files:
   • Locate elocal32.exe, select it, and press the Delete key. (Note: Files are listed in alphabetical order. If file extensions like .exe are hidden on your system, simply delete the file named elocal32).
   • Locate and delete the monmouse.cpl file.
4. Open the Drivers subfolder (located inside the WinNT\System32 subfolder) and delete the following driver files:
   • Locate and delete monmouse.sys.
   • Locate and delete mmstub.sys.
5. Close the Windows Explorer window.

Removing Registry Entries

1. Click Start, select Run, type regedit in the Run field, and press the Enter key to launch the Registry Editor.

2. Drill down to the MonMouse key by expanding the following folder path:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MonMouse
3. Delete the MonMouse key and all of its associated subkeys:
   • Highlight the MonMouse folder.
   • Press the Delete key.
   • Confirm the deletion when prompted by the system.
4. Close the Registry Editor and Reboot the machine to finalize the uninstallation process.
