How to Manually Uninstall the Windows NT Driver (v3.1c)
This article provides step-by-step instructions for manually removing the legacy Windows NT v3.1c touch driver from Elo — Now part of Zebra Technologies.
Important Support Notice: Windows NT is an obsolete operating system and is no longer supported by Microsoft or Elo Touch Solutions. This information is provided solely for legacy maintenance and historical reference.
Deleting Driver Files
- Right-click the Start button and select Explore to open Windows Explorer.
- Navigate to the
WinNTfolder and double-click to open it. - Open the
System32subfolder (located inside theWinNTfolder) and delete the following system files:- Locate
elocal32.exe, select it, and press the Delete key. (Note: Files are listed in alphabetical order. If file extensions like .exe are hidden on your system, simply delete the file namedelocal32). - Locate and delete the
monmouse.cplfile.
- Locate
- Open the
Driverssubfolder (located inside theWinNT\System32subfolder) and delete the following driver files:- Locate and delete
monmouse.sys. - Locate and delete
mmstub.sys.
- Locate and delete
- Close the Windows Explorer window.
Removing Registry Entries
Critical Warning: Do not attempt to edit the Windows Registry unless you are familiar with the Registry Editor. Making a mistake can cause severe system instability.
- Click Start, select Run, type
regeditin the Run field, and press the Enter key to launch the Registry Editor. Drill down to the MonMouse key by expanding the following folder path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MonMouse- Delete the
MonMousekey and all of its associated subkeys:- Highlight the
MonMousefolder. - Press the Delete key.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted by the system.
- Highlight the
- Close the Registry Editor and Reboot the machine to finalize the uninstallation process.
