This article explains how to add a pcap touchmonitor to Windows laptops or computers that have a single non-touch monitor connected
Adding an Elo PCAP touchmonitor to a Windows laptop or a Windows machine with a single non-touch monitor, is a very simple process. Usually, no Elo driver is needed in this type of setup as PCAP works with the native Windows USB-HID drivers.
Steps
1. Make all cable connections.
- Connect power cable from Elo PCAP touchmonitor to a power source.
- Connect video cable to video source on laptop or computer.
- Connect USB touch cable to USB port on laptop or computer.
2. When the USB touch cable is connected to the laptop or computer, Windows should automatically install drivers for it. You may see a pop-up message in the lower right corner of your screen indicating Windows is installing a digitizer device. Please wait until it completes.
3. Once the touchscreen is finished installing, right-click on the laptop desktop or computer's desktop and choose Display Settings.
4. In Display Settings, scroll down to the Multiple displays section and choose Extend these displays.
- Note: Place a tick mark in the box for whichever display you want to be the primary. Do this by clicking on the monitor display icon at the top of the page and then click in the box next to "make this my main display."
5. Next, go to Tablet PC Settings and click on Setup in the Configure section. Typically, the setup screen will first appear on the laptop or non-touch monitor, simply press the Enter key on the keyboard and the setup screen will move to the touchscreen. Touch the touchscreen to identify it as the touch device.
6. Calibration is not normally necessary if using an Elo PCAP or IR technology touchmonitor; however, if the touch is not accurate on the touchscreen at this point, you can choose the Elo touchmonitor from the Display options, click the Calibrate button and perform a calibration by following the instructions on the screen and touching each crosshair as it appears.
